The European Union, together with the United States, South Korea, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, has issued a joint statement calling on North Korea to abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
The statement noted that the EU, the US and Australia imposed sanctions in October against individuals and entities involved in North Korea's overseas labor activities, malicious cyber operations and cooperation with Russia, all aimed at curtailing Pyongyang's ballistic missile capabilities.
The signatories also referenced the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT), established in October 2024 to track compliance with international restrictions on North Korea. "The MSMT will continue to monitor, expose and report on North Korea's attempts to evade and violate United Nations sanctions," the statement read.
The parties reaffirmed their strong support for the full implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions related to North Korea and called on all UN member states, particularly the permanent members of the Security Council, to comply with those resolutions without exception.
