US President Donald Trump has announced that people who report election fraud will be paid $1 million if those responsible are arrested and convicted. Trump made the announcement on his social media account ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for 3 November.
"Anyone who reports election fraud in past elections or the upcoming 2026 midterm elections will be paid $1 million if the people who committed the fraud are arrested and convicted," Trump wrote.
The reward covers not only the upcoming midterms but also previous elections. Payment is conditional on the reported individuals being arrested and found guilty by a court.
Trump had previously claimed that votes were stolen in the last presidential election, which he lost to former US President Joe Biden. The dispute over those claims remained at the centre of the American political agenda for a long time.
His latest statement has brought the issue of election security back to the forefront shortly before the 3 November midterm vote.
