Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) hosted EMUCON'26 for the second consecutive year, with the event organized under the leadership of the Fantasy Fiction Club and supported by numerous student clubs across the campus. The gathering transformed the university grounds into a lively festival brimming with creativity and collaboration.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç described the event as a clear reflection of how vibrant campus life had become. He emphasized the value of curiosity in academic settings, noting that the questions "I wonder" and "why not" lie at the heart of all beginnings and creativity, and extended his gratitude to all who contributed to the event.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, who could not attend in person, sent a message underlining the significance of EMUCON'26 for campus culture. She noted that the event offered students a valuable opportunity to showcase their talents, forge new friendships, and engage with diverse cultures.
The programme opened with a piano recital on the main stage, followed by a performance by Group Vavien of the Music Club and an energetic concert by Entrikaband. A Tekken 8 tournament final broadcast live on the LED screen drew considerable excitement, with winners receiving shopping vouchers sponsored by Feed Me.
Thematic areas covering Entertainment, Arts, Technology, Science, Social Sciences, Health and Lifestyle, Sports, and Awareness were set up across the venue. Workshops, dance shows, informational booths, and interactive activities allowed participants to explore new interests and discover the work of fellow clubs. Food, beverage, and souvenir stalls added to the festive atmosphere throughout the day.
First held last year, EMUCON has quickly established itself as a key fixture in EMU's academic calendar, reinforcing a culture of collective effort, solidarity, and student engagement on campus.
