The National Olympic Committee of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC NOC) sent a delegation to the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TNOC) held in Istanbul. Following the assembly, the governing boards of the two committees convened and adopted a series of decisions aimed at strengthening sports cooperation.
The joint meeting focused on expanding international competition opportunities for TRNC athletes, reinforcing institutional ties between the two committees, and launching collaborative projects. The parties agreed on an implementation timeline and a shared roadmap for the decisions reached.
During the General Assembly, TNOC President Prof. Dr. Veli Ozan Çakır made a point of acknowledging the TRNC NOC delegation in his address, a gesture seen as a reflection of solidarity between the two bodies. At the close of the event, the TRNC NOC presented Çakır with a plaque of appreciation in recognition of his support and cooperative approach.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the TRNC NOC underscored sport's role as a bridge between communities. "We will continue working together to translate this cooperation with the TNOC into concrete projects," the statement read. "We are firmly committed to broadening opportunities for Turkish Cypriot youth and ensuring our athletes claim the place they deserve on the international stage."
