The Cyprus Turkish Teachers' Union (KTOS) has announced that it is ending its industrial action at the Kyrenia (Girne) Special Education and Vocational Training School, following the resolution of a teacher shortage at the school.
In a written statement, KTOS General Secretary Burak Maviş said the staffing gap had been closed as a result of the union's campaign.
Maviş argued, however, that the Education Ministry had failed to meet its responsibilities on time, and that students had been deprived of education as a consequence of the delay.
The union will continue to press its staffing demands for the special education and vocational schools in both Famagusta (Mağusa) and Kyrenia, Maviş said, adding: "We will continue to defend our students' right to education and the rights of our teachers."
