Technology giant Microsoft has announced it will offer voluntary separation to certain employees in the United States, Canada, India and the United Kingdom. According to international media reports, around 60,000 employees are expected to receive the offer under the programme.
The move was communicated in a message to staff from Amy Coleman, the company's senior executive responsible for human resources. The message said the offer would be extended to eligible employees in participating organisations.
According to Coleman's message, the programme gives employees considering a future outside the company the option of making that transition with support. It is also intended to allow participating organisations to adapt their workforce to changing needs.
"This limited-time voluntary programme gives eligible employees the opportunity to leave Microsoft with financial support and career planning resources," the statement said.
The programme will be available for a limited period and only to eligible staff in the four specified countries.
