Türel Özer, the Yeniden Doğuş Partisi (YDP) candidate for Kyrenia in the upcoming parliamentary elections, shared his reasons for returning to politics and his key policy goals during a television programme. Drawing on years of experience in public administration, bureaucracy, academia and trade unionism, Özer said he rejoined the political arena under the YDP banner to complete unfinished work alongside people committed to serving the country.
Özer stressed that politics should reach not only registered voters but everyone living, working and contributing in the country. He noted that a wide range of people — from private-sector employees and civil servants to residents without citizenship — face significant barriers when trying to access public services.
Among his stated priorities are streamlining bureaucracy, expanding e-government infrastructure, digitalising public services, ensuring merit-based appointments and implementing comprehensive public sector reform. Özer said his goal is a transparent and accessible state where citizens can complete their transactions from home without having to rely on personal connections.
Özer also highlighted the importance of integrating the Spatial Address Registration System with the Statistics Office infrastructure, arguing that such coordination is essential for generating reliable population data and enabling sound public planning.
