A 33-year-old pickup driver was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Alayköy, in the Nicosia district, at around 2pm on 25 October 2026. Diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage and internal injuries, he is being monitored in the neurology intensive care unit.
According to the Police Press Office, the pickup with registration FC 656, driven by Uğur Poyraz (U.P.), was travelling north on Battal Street in a careless manner when the driver lost control on a right-hand bend and left the road on the right side.
The vehicle skidded out of control, re-entered the road and then veered off the left side, crashing into an iron garden gate and a wall.
The seriously injured driver was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, where examinations revealed a brain haemorrhage and internal organ injuries. He received treatment there.
Following the intervention, the driver was admitted to the neurology intensive care unit, where his condition is being closely monitored.
