The Tanzania-flagged cargo vessel 'As Dream' sank approximately 90 nautical miles west of Paphos in waters within the Republic of Cyprus's search and rescue zone. An alert reached the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Centre on Friday evening at around 20:15, prompting the immediate launch of a rescue operation.
Authorities activated the national contingency plan known as 'NEARCHOS', mobilizing helicopters, maritime units, and the commercial vessel 'MSC HANNAH III', which was transiting the area at the time.
All ten crew members were first taken aboard the MSC HANNAH III before being transferred to the Port and Marine Police vessel 'PENTADAKTYLOS', which then transported them to Limassol Port. Medical teams on shore assessed all ten individuals and confirmed they were in good health.
Diplomatic channels were used to notify the relevant countries' embassies of the incident.
