The Meteorology Department of Cyprus issued a yellow weather warning for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday, October 28, with the alert in effect from 2am to 6pm. Hail and strong gusts of wind are also possible during this period.
The storms are expected to affect the western part of the island first before gradually spreading eastward from midday onwards. Rainfall is forecast to range between 35 and 55 millimetres per hour, with winds potentially reaching up to 8 Beaufort.
A low-pressure system moving into the region is responsible for the deteriorating conditions, bringing increased cloud cover, rain, and isolated thunderstorms. The unsettled weather is expected to persist into Thursday.
Temperatures are forecast to dip slightly on Thursday before rising gradually from Friday onwards.
