HP adayı Akbaşak: Eczacılar Genel Sağlık Sistemi'nin ayrılmaz parçası olacak

People's Party (HP) parliamentary candidate Özbir Akbaşak announced that they aim to integrate pharmacists effectively into the General Health System in order to ease access to healthcare services and give the system a more comprehensive structure.

In a written statement issued through his election office, Akbaşak said they believe the role of pharmacists in the health system has not been sufficiently utilised to date. Akbaşak noted that their aim is to make pharmacists a strong and integral component of the system.

Under the envisaged model, citizens will be able to receive healthcare from family doctors or clinics and obtain their medicines with their prescriptions from any contracted pharmacy of their choice. Akbaşak stressed that in this structure pharmacists will not be regarded merely as suppliers of medicines, but will be positioned as healthcare professionals responsible for medication safety, correct use of medicines, patient information and monitoring of the treatment process.

Akbaşak said they aim to build a citizen-centred health system, integrated with digital infrastructure, in which family doctors, pharmacists, clinics and state hospitals complement one another.

Referring to the two core principles of the model being developed within the HP Health Committee, Akbaşak said the first is to bring healthcare services to citizens' doorsteps, and the second is to ensure that all professional groups in the health sector play an active role in the system. Akbaşak added that pharmacists will be one of the key components of this structure.
