Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that talks with Qatari mediators regarding a two-day plan related to the Strait of Hormuz are continuing, though no definitive conclusion has been reached. Araghchi made the remarks to Iran's official news agency IRNA following a meeting of the parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, where he assessed an Iranian delegation's recent visit to Qatar.
"Negotiations are continuing, but we have not yet reached a definitive result, because reaching a result depends on the answers the other side gives to our questions," Araghchi said. He noted that the visit was conducted at the level of deputy foreign minister and that its purpose was to continue consultations with Qatari mediators who had held contacts in Tehran in recent weeks.
Araghchi stressed that no direct negotiations with the United States were planned as part of the visit, with discussions on the two-day plan proceeding solely through the mediators. He expressed hope that the other side would act rationally and choose diplomacy over alternative paths, while affirming Iran's continued commitment to diplomatic efforts.
The minister noted that Iran is prepared for all scenarios, pointing to instructions issued by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to senior military commanders as a clear demonstration of the country's resolve. Araghchi added that the Iranian armed forces have a clear mandate and are stronger than ever thanks to lessons learned from two previous wars, underscoring that Tehran remains simultaneously ready for both defense and diplomacy.
