Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has captured Uğur Bahadır, a member of the terrorist organization ISIS who operated under the alias 'Abdullah', in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and transferred him to Turkey. According to security sources, intelligence work by MIT determined that Bahadır had crossed from Turkey into the region and taken on various roles at multiple ISIS camps.
Bahadır reportedly left Turkey in 2024 to join ISIS in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. The individual who recruited him into the organization is identified as Özgür Altun, a Turkish national known by the code name 'Abu Yasir Al Turki', who was himself captured in early 2025. Altun is believed to have played an active role in transferring ISIS operatives from Turkey to the Afghanistan-Pakistan area.
Following his transfer to Turkey, Bahadır provided initial testimony covering his contacts with Altun, the training he received within ISIS, the tasks assigned to him by the organization, and the group's operational activities in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. It also emerged that Bahadır had worked alongside Ahmet Kazancı, known by the aliases 'Abu Ubeyde' and 'Abu İbrahim', who was captured in early 2026 and had been active in ISIS's media unit.
MIT stated that through these successive operations, ISIS plots targeting Turkey have been thwarted.
