TRNC Health Minister Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek attended the 12th Turkish Medical World Congress held in Istanbul, delivering a speech on healthcare priorities and bilateral cooperation. The congress, organized under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency by the Turkish Ministry of Health and the Turkish Health Institutes (TÜSEB), was held under the theme "Productive Health in the Turkish Medical World: Resilient Health Systems Against Global Health Threats."
Dinçyürek underlined that global health challenges highlight the importance of systems that invest in their own knowledge, technology and production capacity. He stressed that advances in artificial intelligence, digital health applications and next-generation medical technologies would play a decisive role in protecting human life and improving the quality of healthcare services.
Speaking on behalf of the TRNC, Dinçyürek announced that four major hospitals are currently under simultaneous construction, with further facilities in the planning stage. He noted that robotic surgery has been introduced and AI-assisted medical imaging is now operational, while legislative reforms are strengthening the sustainability of the health system.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu for their support in developing TRNC's healthcare infrastructure, and called for the expansion of joint research projects between the two countries through TÜSEB.
Dinçyürek also paid tribute to Nobel laureate Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, calling him "an honorary ambassador who carries the TRNC flag on his chest." Moved by the Kyrgyz Health Minister's remarks about completing his medical training in Turkey, Dinçyürek noted that many TRNC graduates and current officials received their higher education in Turkey free of charge. "This is a debt of loyalty and gratitude for us," he said, expressing confidence that health cooperation between Turkey, the TRNC and participating nations would continue to deepen.
