Arif Bayraktar, President of the North Cyprus Restaurateurs Association (Res-Bir), emphasized that debates over the inspection of mass catering services have been on the sector's agenda for years, and called for immediate action on the matter of public health. Bayraktar also reiterated that Res-Bir must be recognized as the sole legitimate professional association in the sector.
Stating that they have repeatedly raised objections to the certification practices of the tradesmen's chamber, Bayraktar explained that they have not allowed the approach of collecting document fees and revenue to take precedence over professional competence and oversight. Bayraktar noted that they are opposed to the issuance of documents that serve as the basis for operating licenses without the establishment of the necessary expertise and inspection mechanisms.
