TAM Party leader Serdar Denktaş has said that ideas and principles matter more than names in politics, arguing that the vision behind the founding of the Democrat Party is now represented by the TAM Party. "I am at home. I have no other house to go to," Denktaş said.
According to a statement from the party, Denktaş appeared on the "Election Special" programme hosted by Ceyda Ahiskalın on Kanal T.
Recalling that the Democrat Party was founded by himself and eight colleagues, Denktaş highlighted his 28 years in politics. He argued that today's Democrat Party no longer represents the political outlook of its founding period.
Assessing the founding philosophy of the TAM Party, Denktaş said: "The idea that built that house at the founding of the Democrat Party is today in the TAM Party."
Denktaş also addressed the process of leasing land for a campus for Rauf Denktaş University during the four-party coalition government. He said that, following a request from the higher education accreditation body YÖDAK for a campus to be established, a plot between Alayköy and the Metehan crossing point was leased, and claimed that the failure to lease the land was later turned into a political pretext.
