YKP 37. Kuruluş Yılında Seçimlere Girmeme Kararını Açıkladı

The New Cyprus Party (YKP) announced on the occasion of its 37th founding anniversary that it will not field candidates in the upcoming elections. The party cited the changing demographic structure in Cyprus and its belief that the elections would not genuinely reflect the will of Turkish Cypriots as the primary reasons for its decision.

YKP sharply criticised the policies of the Republic of Turkey towards Cyprus, arguing that the ongoing population changes on the island make meaningful electoral participation impossible under current conditions.

In its anniversary message, the party stated that it has fought without interruption for 37 years for the reunification of Cyprus and has stood in solidarity with all those who share that struggle. YKP added that it will continue its fight for "an egalitarian, libertarian, participatory and democratic socialism, committed to the principles of internationalism, solidarity, labour rights, anti-militarism, peace, ecology and gender equality."
