Port and maritime service workers across Greece went on a 24-hour strike following a joint call by multiple trade unions, halting operations at the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, Lavrio, Patras, Elefsina, Rio, and Igoumenitsa. Ships remained anchored at berths throughout the day.
The striking workers stated that they refuse to allow their labor at the ports to serve military purposes. They emphasized their unwillingness to participate in the transportation of military equipment used to kill people in conflict zones, particularly in Palestine, and called for peace.
In solidarity with the port workers, the Greek Railway Federation also declared a 24-hour strike, leading to the cancellation of train services nationwide. The Greek Civil Servants' Confederation (ADEDY) joined the action with a four-hour work stoppage.
Workers, public employees, and students gathered in front of the Piraeus Municipal Theatre before marching to Piraeus Port. Demonstrators carried banners reading 'Workers do not work for war' and chanted anti-war slogans throughout the march.
