Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides will attend the COP31 climate conference in Antalya, accompanied by Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos. The two officials will represent the Republic of Cyprus at the Leaders Summit scheduled for 11-12 November, part of the broader conference running from 9 to 20 November.
During the second week of the summit, Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Minister Christos Senekis will lead the Cypriot delegation at the high-level ministerial segment, where key climate decisions are expected to be adopted. He will be accompanied by senior ministry officials.
According to Politis newspaper, citing sources from the Agriculture Ministry, Cyprus's positions at COP31 will align with the European Union's shared climate priorities. The Cypriot delegation's agenda will include strengthening global climate governance and pressing for the fulfillment of national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Agreement.
Politis described COP31 as "the next major milestone in global climate diplomacy," with nations expected to review and potentially upgrade their climate pledges during the conference.
