Reşat Kansoy, the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) candidate for mayor of Güzelyurt, outlined his electoral promises at an event organised by the CTP Women's Organisation Güzelyurt Branch. Kansoy identified migration as one of the town's most pressing problems and said he planned to implement projects, in cooperation with local and central government, to slow emigration and encourage residents to return to the region.
Placing gender equality at the heart of his municipal vision, Kansoy declared: "Creating a city where women live as equals, freely and safely, will form the core of our approach to local governance." He also announced plans to provide medical supplies to citizens requiring home care, as well as mobile hairdressing and personal care services under a social municipality framework.
On combating violence against women, Kansoy made a concrete commitment: should he be elected, Güzelyurt Municipality would become a partner of the Violence Prevention and Monitoring Centre (ŞÖDAM) following 6 December. He stressed his goal of building a city where women have access to legal advice and equal opportunities in economic and social life.
Closing with a broader call for change, Kansoy said: "Have no doubt that we will put Güzelyurt back on its feet. We will achieve this together. Güzelyurt is in urgent need of change in local government."
