The New Cyprus Party (YKP) has called for the transfer of closed Varosha to United Nations administration without any preconditions, and for the return of its lawful residents to begin without delay. The party also urged that Famagusta Port be opened to direct trade under European Union supervision.

In a written statement, the party set out its position clearly: "YKP's stance is unambiguous. Varosha must be handed over to UN administration without expecting anything in return, and the return of its legal inhabitants must commence." On the issue of Famagusta Port, the statement stressed that the Direct Trade Regulation "should serve as a vehicle for lawful trade between Turkish Cypriots and the EU, not as a bargaining chip for recognition."

The party noted that its position on these matters has remained consistent since 2014, describing the simultaneous return of Varosha to its rightful owners and the opening of Famagusta Port as the most realistic and workable proposal on the table.

YKP also called for negotiations on crossing points to be brought to concrete outcomes, framing all three issues as interconnected elements of a broader settlement effort.
