The Turkish Cypriot Photography Association (FODER) introduced primary school pupils to the art of photography at its stand in the "Bookmarks" exhibition, which opened at Bedesten. Throughout the exhibition, children visiting the stand were shown cameras and taught the basic principles and finer points of taking photographs.
The exhibition, curated by Mustafa Kemal Kasapoğlu, was sponsored by the Yunus Emre Institute and the Cyprus Foundations Administration. FODER took part in the event with its own stand.
According to a statement from the association, the pupils had the chance to examine cameras up close and get direct answers to their questions about photography.
Assessing the event, FODER President Tevfik Ulual highlighted the importance of children encountering photography at an early age. Ulual said they were pleased to help children discover photography, look at their surroundings from a different perspective and create their own images.
"Photography is a powerful means of expression that enables children not only to record what they see, but also to notice details, develop their imagination and interpret the world from their own perspective. That is why we attach importance to introducing children to the art of photography at a young age and supporting their creativity," Ulual said.
