Singer Nev, who reached a wide audience in the 2000s with songs such as "Zor", "Mühürlü Kaderim" and "Sen Gibi", has died at the age of 57. The death of the artist, who had been receiving hospital treatment for a liver condition for some time, was announced by his manager İlker Ercan.
Nev was taken to hospital after losing consciousness at his home on 3 September. It was reported that the artist, whose treatment was ongoing, had been intubated for a second time, and developments regarding his health were closely followed by his fans. The artist passed away at the hospital where he was being treated.
Manager İlker Ercan shared the sad news with the words "I am so sorry, we have lost him." In his message, Ercan wrote: "I am experiencing the indescribable pain of losing my dear friend Nev. The friendship you brought into my life, the beautiful memories, your music and that beautiful heart will always live on in me. I will remember you not just as an artist, but as a very precious friend and a wonderful person." Ercan bid farewell to the artist, saying: "You will always be fondly remembered, always missed. Rest in peace, my dear friend."
Born Nevzat Doğansoy on 24 December 1968 in Istanbul, the artist started music as a child playing the mandolin and turned to the electric guitar during his university years. After gaining stage experience with the band Chantage in 1995, he took part in Teoman's Turkey tour in 2000.
Nev became widely known with his debut album "Her Şeye Rağmen", released in 2001. The song "Zor" from the album became one of the turning points of his career. In the following years, he continued his musical journey with works such as "Sen Gibi", "Işığım ve Gölgem" and "Bir Nev-i Alaturka".
The death of Nev, who carved out a distinctive place in the Turkish music scene with his unique style blending pop-rock sounds with Turkish classical music, has left his fans in deep sorrow.
