A farewell ceremony was held at the Famagusta Municipality (GMB) building for Aysel Alihan, who had served as an architect at the municipality since 2004. GMB Mayor Süleyman Uluçay and Alihan's colleagues Ali Sarıyel and Naci Taşeli each delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Mayor Uluçay expressed his deep sorrow over Alihan's passing and extended his condolences to her family and loved ones. He emphasised that during the four years they worked together, Alihan had successfully fulfilled every responsibility entrusted to her while serving in the Walled City, and noted that living a meaningful life comes from contributing to oneself and to those around us.
Ali Sarıyel, for his part, recounted how Alihan had continued to strive for the city and country she loved even while battling her illness.
