A newborn diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease continues to receive treatment in critical condition at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital in southern Cyprus. The infant's condition remains unchanged, with life-support equipment in use.
The baby was born at a private clinic where the Legionella bacterium was subsequently identified in the facility's water system. Following the discovery, health authorities ordered the temporary suspension of the clinic's operations.
After repeated laboratory tests returned negative results, the Ministry of Health granted permission for the clinic to resume its services. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
