Construction of an underpass has begun on the section of the Iskele-Karpaz main road between the Granel Roundabout and The Arkın Hotel Roundabout, and the carriageway leading from Karpaz to Iskele has been closed to traffic.
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, traffic will flow in both directions on the dual-lane road heading from Iskele towards Karpaz for as long as the works continue. Vehicles travelling in both directions will therefore share the same carriageway on that stretch.
Police urged motorists using the route to drive slowly and carefully, and to follow traffic signs, flaggers and on-site directions.
The temporary traffic arrangement will remain in place until the underpass works on the main road linking Iskele and the Karpaz region are completed.
