The Cyprus Turkish Women Entrepreneurs Association (GİKAD) is set to hold a fashion show dedicated to Lapithos Hesap İşi, the first officially registered embroidery style of Northern Cyprus. The event, themed "A Heritage Brought to Life Through Stories," will take place on Friday, November 6, 2025 at 16:30 at the Acapulco Hotel in Çatalköy.
Designs by Behice Biran, Fahriye Behcet, Mert Özyürekliler, Tülay Kader, and Şafak Bekiroğlu will be presented on the runway, each drawing inspiration from the distinctive geometric patterns of Lapithos embroidery. The show brings together five designers in a collective celebration of this traditional craft.
Lapithos Hesap İşi is a centuries-old needlework technique native to the Lapithos region, recognized for its geometric motifs. Its official registration as a protected craft in Northern Cyprus marks a significant milestone in preserving the island's intangible cultural heritage. GİKAD's initiative highlights the role of women entrepreneurs in safeguarding and promoting local traditions.
