“Dillirga”, one of the well-known works of Turkish Cypriot folk music, has been rearranged for four-part mixed choir, bringing it into the polyphonic choral repertoire. The Sonare Polyphonic Choir will give the first performance of the new arrangement.
According to the information provided, the arrangement of the song, whose lyrics were written by Cemal Özgürsel, was produced by composer and arranger Gücem Ağmaz. The work was undertaken at the special request of Erkan Dağlı, conductor of the Sonare Polyphonic Choir.
The project aims to contribute to the reinterpretation of Turkish Cypriot cultural heritage through contemporary choral art, it was stated.
The choir has already begun rehearsals ahead of the work’s premiere performance.
