The Nicosia Municipal Theatre is launching the Third Space Project, a program of theater and arts workshops designed for young people aged 14 to 18. The initiative aims to create a space where participants can express themselves through art, engage with different cultures and identities, and explore their relationship with the city and public space. Sessions will be conducted in Turkish, Greek, and English.
The project is curated by Eirini Andreou, Giannis Karaoulis, and Eleni Moleski, with a focus on helping young people reflect on what it means to be a teenager in today's urban environment.
The first phase, a theater workshop titled 'Talking About My City,' will run every Saturday from 15:00 to 18:00 between October 31 and November 21. Led by Oya Akın, Eirini Andreou, and Giannis Karaoulis, the workshop will also serve as a preparatory stage for forming the core group of the Nicosia Youth Theatre Ensemble.
The second, longer-term component of the project is the '3rd Space Nicosia Youth Theatre Ensemble.' Running every Saturday from December 5 through mid-May, these sessions will guide participants through collective creation and documentary theater techniques. The group will build an original performance from scratch, with additional rehearsals scheduled in the final two weeks before the premiere.
