Israeli basketball club Maccabi Tel Aviv has received official approval to use Limassol as its home court for EuroLeague fixtures. According to Cypriot newspaper Politis, the approval was granted on Thursday, with the team's first home game scheduled for November 12 against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Between 10 and 12 matches are expected to be played in Limassol over the course of the season. Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters have been allocated 3,000 tickets per match.
Hapoel Tel Aviv had also applied to use the Republic of Cyprus as a home venue, but authorities rejected the request, citing the excessive security burden it would place on the Cypriot police.
