The Renaissance Party (YDP) announced that the application of its Turkish Nicosia Municipality mayoral candidate Dr. Özkul Haraç and three municipal council candidates was rejected by the District Electoral Board on the grounds of a four-minute delay. An appeal submitted to the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) was also dismissed, making the decision final; Özkul Haraç will not be able to participate in the Turkish Nicosia Municipality elections.
The party expressed deep regret over the situation and informed the public that, as part of an initial assessment, the Nicosia District Administration Officer had been dismissed and an investigation into the process had been launched.
A separate crisis also emerged in Famagusta. According to a YDP statement, the district secretary raised concerns regarding the residency documents of District Electoral Board officials.
