Özkul Haraç, nominated by the Yeniden Doğuş Partisi (YDP) as its candidate for the presidency of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB), has been barred from the race after his official candidacy application was rejected on procedural grounds.
According to reports, the deadline for candidacy submissions was 15:30, but Haraç's application was received at 15:34 — four minutes after the cutoff — prompting election authorities to reject it.
YDP has filed a formal objection against the decision. The appeal is expected to be heard in court, after which a final ruling on Haraç's candidacy will be issued.
