The Democratic Party (DP) organised a Youth Meeting in Lefka as part of its campaign ahead of the general and local elections scheduled for December 6. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and DP leader Fikri Ataoğlu, the party's Lefka parliamentary candidates Nadir Tahsildaroğulları and Mehmet Ali Kozan, independent mayoral candidate Nazım Ced, and a large number of young party members.

Addressing the crowd, Ataoğlu praised the enthusiasm shown by Lefka's youth for party events regardless of weather conditions, describing it as highly meaningful. He stressed that young people hold a vital place in politics and the country's future, adding that they would be among the key architects of the party's electoral success on December 6.

Ataoğlu highlighted the DP's commitment to youth policies, announcing steps taken to establish a Youth Federation on the island after many years. He also noted that 2027 has been declared the Youth Year for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus following initiatives within the Organisation of Turkic States and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, calling this a concrete demonstration of the party's dedication to young people.

Ataoğlu announced full support for independent candidate Nazım Ced in the Lefka mayoral race, expressing confidence in Ced's track record, projects and vision for the district. He added that the DP is also strongly competitive in the general elections in Lefka, with candidates and party organisations conducting an intensive campaign.

Ced thanked Ataoğlu for his encouragement and unwavering support throughout the candidacy process. Speaking to a crowd that included many of his former students, Ced pledged to implement wide-ranging projects to empower youth if elected mayor. He said interest and meeting requests from various segments of Lefka society were growing steadily, and expressed confidence that the political momentum was in their favour ahead of the December 6 vote.
