TRNC Economy and Energy Minister Hasan Taçoy has strongly condemned Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Kombos for complaining to European Union officials about the planned natural gas pipeline between the TRNC and Turkey and requesting that the project be blocked. Taçoy described the move as "an unacceptable attitude created by those who refuse to see the real facts in Cyprus."

Taçoy argued that the Greek Cypriot side is emboldened in such actions primarily because the CTP (Republican Turkish Party) votes against international agreements with Turkey in the TRNC Assembly. "It is no surprise that they wish to use the EU in this manner," he said, adding that the Greek Cypriot administration's core objective across all platforms is to deprive the Turkish Cypriot people of their fundamental rights and reduce them to a minority.

The minister stressed that major projects being developed with the support of Turkey would benefit not only the TRNC but the entire island and region. He extended an invitation to the Greek Cypriot side to join these initiatives rather than seeking to obstruct them. "Instead of complaining left and right, let them come and benefit from these projects themselves," Taçoy said.

Concluding with a firm statement, Taçoy declared: "We will continue to exist on this island as a sovereign and equal state. The Turkish Cypriot people will never be separated from their motherland. No one, including the EU, has the power to change that."
