A suspect identified as M.C.K. has been remanded to prison for a period not exceeding one month following a serious assault in Nicosia. Judge Gizem Erciyas issued the order after the suspect appeared in court for the third time in connection with the incident.

The assault took place on 18 October 2026 at around 9:30 p.m. on Şehit Mehmet Kemal Street in Nicosia. Police officer Fırat Uğuroğlu of the Nicosia Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Branch testified that the suspect struck the victim, M.A.Ç., aged 27, repeatedly with his hands and feet during an argument over a financial dispute.

As a result of the beating, the victim sustained lacerations above his right eyebrow and below his right eye, bruising on the right side of his face, and fractures to the right temporal bone and facial area. The victim subsequently completed treatment and was discharged from hospital.

Officer Uğuroğlu stated that the suspect had previously appeared before the court twice, resulting in a total of 11 days of additional remand. Citing the suspect's prior convictions for similar offences and pending cases, police requested that he be held in custody. The court upheld the request and ordered the suspect's remand to prison.
