Nicosia Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı has formally submitted his candidacy to the Nicosia District Election Board, entering the race for a fourth consecutive term. He has held the mayoral post since 2014.

Speaking after filing his application, Harmancı said his administration had worked tirelessly to resolve the city's long-standing infrastructure problems without resorting to populism. "We tried to fix the infrastructure burdens this city carried from the past — without weariness, without giving up, without populism. We solved a significant part of them. We bowed to no one and owed gratitude to no one," he stated.

Harmancı emphasised that every municipal resource had been directed toward the benefit of Nicosia's residents. "We returned the value of every penny to the people of Nicosia. We left no one hungry or without support in this city," he said.

The mayor pointed to the Kanlıdere project and a planned cultural arts centre as flagship examples of the city's transformation, noting that Nicosia now regularly discusses and tenders major investment projects.

Harmancı argued that the city, once associated with mismanagement, had shed that image entirely. "This city has reached a point where it is known not for despair, exhaustion, or ruin, but for good governance," he said. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence in another successful term: "I am certain we will find a place in your hearts for a fourth time and leave our mark once more."
