Serdar Denktaş, leader of the Social Justice and Struggle Party (TAM Party), announced that his party has nominated 19 female parliamentary candidates across five regions, setting an all-time record for the highest number of women candidates fielded by a single party in North Cyprus elections.
In a written statement, Denktaş said the candidate selection process was guided by a positive discrimination policy in favour of women, describing the outcome as a historic milestone. "Women's transformative power must also leave its mark on the political stage," he said, noting that TAM Party holds the distinction of presenting the largest number of female candidates of any party in the country.
The female candidates are distributed as follows: Nicosia — Çağla Dinçer, Hacer Güneş, Diler Ertuğ, Burcu Aksu Vural, Özge Ekin Çelik and Neyire Özgöker; Famagusta — Şirin Zaimağaoğlu, Av. Gülistan Çelebi, Yeliz Garabli, Rania Ghorayeb, Filiz Sığırtmaç, Meryem Bilginlerler and Gül Özbayrak; Kyrenia — Emine Leblebicioğlu and Aydın Kaan Bahri; İskele — Av. Aybüke Özmen, Ülviye Emirkan and Şifa Bahalı; Lefke — Hülya Kasap.
Denktaş also noted that the party has nominated a significant proportion of women for Municipal Council seats, underscoring TAM Party's broader commitment to gender equality in political representation.
